Durban Youth Council

The Durban Youth Council (DYC) is a vibrant, non-profit organisation, comprising of over 100 enthusiastic Grade 11 learners from nearly 40 schools in the greater Durban area. The objective of the DYC is to develop young leaders through service to the community. Through actively managing and participating in community service-based projects, councillors develop an awareness of the community and uplift and empower the lives of many.

QGHS is proud to have 2 of the 3 electoral positions in 2013. They are:

Councillor – Kirthana Pillay

Treasurer – Aliya Visagie

These are some of the Community Projects the DYC is involved in:

  • Sea View Primary School Junior Campus painting project
  • Durban Harbour clean-ups
  • Water Week Awareness
  • Quarry Heights Primary School feeding scheme
  • Mr and Miss Durban Youth
  • SAY I CAN march for education awareness
  • Queensburgh Chesire Homes visits
