Thank you for the interest in our school and for indicating that you wish to register your daughter as a learner at Queensburgh Girls’ High School.
As you are aware there is considerable pressure for places in schools and particularly at schools which are seen as advantaged. Whilst the state entitles a learner to education up to Grade 9 this is not necessarily at a school of her choice. The School’s policy is first to allocate places to bona fide residents of the area for which Queensburgh Girls’ High School is the closest State school.
With a large number of learners seeking admission to Grade 8 in the South Durban region and with parents eager for a quality education for their daughters we expect to again to have an exceptionally high number of applications from residents beyond the Queensburgh area.
I would urge that if you are a resident whose closest State school is Queensburgh Girls’ High School and you wish to guarantee your daughter’s place, you apply immediately.
To facilitate the smooth and swift administration of your daughter’s application we require the following:
a) The application form to be filled in fully.
b) Learner’s and biological parents’/legal guardians’ identity documents, a recent photograph and your daughter’s most recent school report must accompany the form. All of these documents are to be certified by a commissioner of oaths or at the police station.
PLEASE NOTE: If parents are alive and guardianship has not been transferred legally, it is the parents’ address which determines whether the learner is in or out of area.
c) Proof of residence qualification.
The date of application is the date we receive the completed application, not the date of a first attempt at handing in an incomplete set of forms and papers.
It is with regret that I must admit that we have had cases of dishonesty. Please be aware that such dishonesty can nullify your application and may be reported to the relevant authorities.
