Cancer Society

The QGHS Cancer Society is actively involved in promoting cancer awareness in our school. Learners make a difference the fun way with various fundraising events held by the club on behalf of the numerous charitable organisations they are affiliated with. The annual “Cupcakes for Cancer” sale takes place at the beginning of the year to mark International Childhood Awareness Day, all the proceeds going to the CHOC foundation. Also in the line-up is “Cuppa for Cancer” which the staff enjoy immensely, The Teddy Bear Collection Drive and the memorable Spray-a-thon. The girls distribute colourful bandanas on the Sunflower Fund’s National Bandana Day. In addition to these events the Society is committed to gaining insight on the various types of cancer, how it affects our daily lives, and any new developments regarding the disease.
